The AcrySof® ReSTOR® IOL (intraocular lens) is a unique technological innovation that can provide quality vision throughout the entire visual spectrum for cataract patients with or without presbyopia. That's near through distance vision – all in one optical system.

Previously, IOLs used in cataract procedures provided good functional distance vision, but offered little benefit to other optical ranges. The AcrySof® ReSTOR® IOL is designed to improve vision over a range from near to distance.

Freedom from reading glasses and bifocals

As people age, their ability to accommodate for varying distances may degenerate.¹ This condition, called presbyopia, is caused by a number of factors including the reduced elasticity of the ciliary muscles. This condition affects the patient's ability to quickly adapt their vision for different ranges, often forcing them to depend on multifocal glasses or contact lenses for total vision correction.

Now there is a new option. The unique AcrySof® ReSTOR® IOL is designed to provide patients with quality vision throughout the full optical range – independent of ciliary muscle function. This is a lifestyle enhancement for active patients who want to reduce dependency on glasses.

By combining the strengths of apodized diffractive and refractive technologies, the AcrySof® ReSTOR® IOL may provide a range of vision similar to the healthy human lens prior to the development of cataracts with or without presbyopia.

With the AcrySof® ReSTOR® IOL, many patients can read, drive and do other tasks without glasses. In fact, during the clinical study, 80% of AcrySof® ReSTOR® IOL patients reported that they "never" wore glasses following bilateral cataract surgery, compared to only 8% of patients with monofocal lenses.²
